Salary:                £30000 - £36000

About Us

The Maples Community is a group of organisations working together to provide specialist rehabilitation, recovery and accommodation services in the southwest of England. Maples is a vibrant and forward-thinking organisation currently looking for experienced RMN/RGN to become part of our brand-new innovative rehabilitative service, the Park.

The Park is a recently converted 12-bed step through rehabilitative facility for adult males aged 18-65 with a mental health illness, set in beautiful grounds in South Gloucestershire. The service's core philosophy is the promotion of independence, health and social recovery through bespoke rehabilitation and care/support planning.

Role Purpose

As a Maples Mental Health Nurse, you will be expected to deliver an innovative and compassionate clinical service whilst working in partnership with the services’ therapeutic team.  You will be expected to deliver a recovery focused clinical offering to male adults (aged 18-65) experiencing complex mental health difficulties using a wide range of bespoke care planning and risk management strategies. You will report directly to the Clinical Lead and will ensure that the service’s values and visions are encapsulated and embedded into clinical practice and that person-centred planning is integral to the clinical offering. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the delivery, action and review of Clinical Care/Support Plans using recovery focused strategies

  • Work collaboratively with service users, carers, internal and external stakeholders and take an active role with cross agency working

  • Assess risk and contribute to the development of robust management strategies in line with positive risk frameworks and guidance

  • Understand and abide by all policies, procedures, legislation and guidance related to clinical practice

  • Ensure accurate, robust and complete documentation of all records

  • Maintain and improve knowledge of mental health illnesses, sections and strategies for rehabilitative outcomes

  • Actively participate in multi-agency working i.e. Safeguarding, MCA, DOLS processes ensuring service users are central to the process and measures implemented are least restrictive

  • To manage budgets and resources to deliver high quality rehabilitative support solutions

  • Have knowledge of relevant legislation, local services and resources.

Other Requirements 
  • The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS application

  • Access to an efficient form of travel.

  • Able to work unsociable hours

About You
  • Registered General or/and Mental Health Nurse with a Valid NMC Pin

  • Effective interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships with colleagues, service users and external professionals.

  • Good knowledge of the most up-to-date clinical practices

  • Effective Crisis Resolution.

  • IT Literate – able to effectively use Excel and Word, willing to learn specialist software.

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of support and rehabilitative needs of service users.

  • Proven knowledge and understanding of mental ill health and ability to develop recovery focused strategies

  • Knowledge of positive risk management framework

  • A positive and inclusive approach to life

  • Be resilient and able to cope with challenging situations

  • Be honest, innovative, organised, flexible, result-driven and resilient

  • Able to evidence continued professional development

  • Knowledge of legislation and guidance related to clinical practice and governance (including CQC Regulations)

  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures and Reporting protocols. MCA (Mental Capacity Act) and DOL's (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards), Pharmaceutical Guidelines and Practice

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience of clinical practice post qualification in the community, rehabilitation services or acute inpatient settings
